BIP is organizing a number of events in Ottawa, ranging from informal socials to full-blown workshops. We’d love to meet you at one of these events! We are always open to feedback on what considerations should be made when looking at event venues so that we can be as inclusive as possible. At present, we are trying to ensure that all events take place at locations that are:

  • zero-cost to attendees (or have a zero-cost option)
  • reasonably accessible (elevators, accessible washrooms, etc.)
  • central and easily accessible by public transit
  • free (or virtually free) from loud noises
  • equipped with food and drink options on request
  • free from strict dress codes

Please check back to see this page updated as new events are scheduled. You can also follow our Facebook page and Twitter account to get updates.

Body Talk

Bi-weekly on Wednesdays @ 7:00-9:00pm

*** Please note that for the winter, Body Talk events have shifted to Wednesday evenings instead of Thursday evenings. ***

Body Talk is a bi-weekly get-together where we aim to have a little social time mixed in with good conversation. We focus on how we see our bodies, how we talk about them, and what might be some shared experiences that have contributed to our personal concepts of body image. This is an informal discussion, which will go exactly where it’s meant to (but we have no idea exactly where that is until it gets there). Please feel free to bring friends, and we very much appreciate RSVPs through the Facebook Event or by e-mail.

Upcoming Body Talk events:

Wednesday, January 21, 2015 @ 7:00pm. Location: Grad lounge above Café Nostalgica.
This week’s Body Talk will not be themed.

Wednesday, February 4, 2015 @ 7:00pm. Location: Grad lounge above Café Nostalgica.
The mental health edition: Mental health and how it may impact body image and self-esteem.

Most Body Talk events are themed discussions (for instance, focused on personal grooming, sexuality or eating disorders). Themed events will be announced as such on this page.

We will always have a copy of our Body Talk safe space policy with us at the events, but you can download it and view it at any time here: PDF version.
